DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe CLICKS program will engage in necessary conversation surrounding the terrifying and heartbreaking instances of mass school shootings.\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nCLICKS is hosting a necessary Thursday evening conversation discussing “Gun Violence – Mass Shooting Safety Tips”. On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 7:00 pm, we will learn about current data, warning signs, and safety tips on what to do if ever involved in a mass shooting. This is a follow up to our previous September 2021 conversation, “The Cost of Community Violence”.\nSo many youth and parents become overwhelmed, and terrified, when discussing mass shootings; especially when in the public school setting. What to do? How do we stay safe? There are hundreds of questions running through the minds of students, teachers, administrators, and parents.\nThere have been 23 school shootings this year. There have been 115 school shootings since 2018, when Education Week began tracking such incidents. The highest number of shootings, 34, occurred last year. There were 10 shootings in 2020, and 24 each in 2019 and 2018.\nJust a few weeks ago on April 22, at least four people were wounded, including a 12-year-old student, when a man fired hundreds of rounds of ammunition towards the Edmund Burke School in Washington, D.C., from a nearby apartment building.\n• According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been 119 mass shootings in 2022.\nPlease join us, via Zoom, on Thursday evening, May 26, 2022, at 7:00 pm to learn more about tips that could save your life, or the lives of those most precious to you.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
